File archiving is a widely spread task nowadays. Almost every user needs to archive files, for easier storage of multiple files or for quickly sending data through email or uploading to a FTP server. One way or the other, file arching is and will be a great way of managing multiple files for many years to come. The ZIP format is the most popular and, in the same time, the oldest formats of all. Unfortunately, the compression ratio it supports is not one of the best. So, if you're looking for an alternative compression format to ZIP, ACE is one of the best choices available. Though the format is not as widely distributed as ZIP, ACE generally offers higher compression rates at comparable speeds. The problem is finding the correct software for dealing with ACE files. The answer is just under your nose, WinAce. As its name suggests, it's a Windows program for managing ACE files. But the list of file formats supported doesn't support here, as it supports a wide range of archive types besides ACE.

WinACE installs quickly and easily and takes up very little disk space. Also it requires low system resources for the archiving and the extracting process and can run without problems on every version of Windows.

The interface of WinAce is highly intuitive and, besides using the classic menu, it allows completing certain actions using the graphical toolbar. Basically, the interface resembles a file explorer, from which the user can select the desired files and folders and apply different actions upon them, like archiving them or adding them to an existing archive.

The list of archive types supported is certainly impressive and besides ACE, it supports more formats than most of the other archiving tools out there. The user can set numerous options for the creation of archives, like the format, the type of compression, the password used for encrypting the archive and also allows the creation of self-extracting archives.

WinACE adds an option to the context menu of every file or folder, for quickly archiving them or even for archiving and sending them as an email attachment using a preferred email client.

WinAce supports previewing certain file types from open archives directly. Also, it can optimize and convert archives to the ACE format.

The options windows allows configuring the application thoroughly, ranging from modifying the functionality to the look and feel of the application. For helping beginners, WinAce allows the creation of profiles that can automatically set all the necessary options for creating an archive, according to its designation.

Pros

It supports a wide range of archive formats and also, features an easy to use interface, so even beginners can create archives without facing any problems.

Cons

The large number of options and customizations may be confusing for a first time user. WinAce is a great software for quickly and easily creating and managing archives.
